Welcome to Indigenous Student Services

ISS is located within the David Unaipon College of Indigenous Education and Research and is part of the Division of Education, Arts and Social Sciences. It was consolidated in February 1996 as a consequence of a major review into Aboriginal and Islander support services at the University of South Australia. Since that time ISS has helped many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students graduate from this university.

Indigenous Student Services (ISS) provides services for all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students across the university and has five on-campus ISS Centre locations: at City West and City East Campuses, Magill, Mawson Lakes and Whyalla and three off-campus centres at Ceduna, Port Lincoln and Port Augusta.

An Indigenous Academic Advisor located in Study Centres on each campus provides a variety of services and connects students to all other services that the university provides.

Indigenous Student Services also coordinates and highly recommends the Indigenous Tutorial Assistance Scheme (ITAS), which connects students with academic tutors for each of the courses in which they are enrolled. This service is commonwealth funded and tutoring is provided free of cost to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.

The Indigenous Academic Advisors and I look forward to providing services to assist you to successfully complete your university program.
