Welcome to Indigenous Student Services
Indigenous
Student Services (ISS) provides services for all Aboriginal and Torres
Strait Islander students across the university and has five on-campus
ISS Centre locations: at City West and City East Campuses, Magill,
Mawson Lakes and Whyalla and at three off-campus centres at Ceduna, Port
Lincoln and Port Augusta.
ISS is part of the David Unaipon College of Indigenous Education and Research within the Division of Education, Arts and Social Sciences of the University of South Australia. It was consolidated in February 1996 as a consequence of a major review into Aboriginal and Islander support services at the University of South Australia. Since that time ISS has helped many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students graduate from this university.
An Indigenous Academic Advisor provides a variety of services to each of these centres including assistance in connecting students to all other services that the university provides.
Indigenous Student Services also coordinates and highly recommends the Indigenous Tutorial Assistance Scheme (ITAS), which connects students with academic tutors for each of the courses in which they are enrolled. This service is commonwealth funded and tutoring is provided free of cost to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
