Support for Students with Disabilities

  • Priority Access PCs in pools and computer barns
To support students with disabilities in the computer pools there is one PC in each Computing Pool and Computer Barn is labelled "Priority Access".  This PC is available for use by all students but, subject to class bookings, students with a disability are entitled to priority of use.
  • Quick use e-mail and Internet PCs
In some locations a wheelchair-accessible PC is provided for short-term e-mail and web browsing with the same software (MS Outlook and Internet Explorer) as the "Walkup PCs". Information on locations is available at ISTS Student Pools Information
  • Adaptive Technology Suites
Any student with a disability that makes it difficult to use the PCs in pools and barns can use the Adaptive Technology Suite on any of the main metropolitan campuses.  There is an ATS in the Library at City East, City West, Magill and Mawson Lakes.  Each has a PC with hardware (large monitor, scanner, A4/A3 printer), software (Dragon Naturally Speaking, Read and Write, ZoomText) and furniture (adjustable table) to assist students with a range of disabilities.
The equipment in each ATS is reserved for students with disabilities.  Students need to register with Learning Connection and book the room at the Library service desk before each use.  Further information is available at Disability services and Adaptive Technology Suites
