Procedure to obtain an IP address
To obtain an IP address for a networked system (Desktop Workstation PC, printer etc.) an e-mail message containing the following information should be sent to pc-ip@unisa.edu.au. The relevant UniSA Blue Plate number should be included in the subject header of the email in addition to the format below. If you do not have a Blue Plate number please refer to the web page for obtaining a Blue Plate.
Suppliers Note: This information should be available on the Purchase order. Please check with
the person who placed the order if this information is absent. Please allow at
least two working days for an IP request to be processed before delivery.
- UniSA #: Blue plate number
- User's name: the name of the preferred user of the device or contact name
- Campus, Building, Room: campus, building and room number of device's location
- User’s ORG2 code: the three letter abbreviation of the unit/school of the user
- Suggested DNS name: (org2)(unisa-number).(campus).unisa.edu.au
- System Type: e.g. printer, notebook, etc
- Manufacturer: make and model of the system
- NIC Manufacturer: Network Adaptor manufacturer and model e.g. 3COM 3C905C
- Ethernet address:12 hexadecimal digits (numbers 0-9 and letters A-F only) - e.g. 006097836D48
- Subnet: what the machine will be used for - e.g. server, staff, student, printer, security
- Fixed IP: If you require a fixed internal/private (eg. 10.220.*.*) IP address, please indicate and provide justification.
(NOTE: Please do not use colons, spaces or hyphens to separate number groups)
If the machine requires a fixed external/public IP (eg. 130.220.*.*) address,
your Local IT Support team will need to complete an
Internet Access Change Request.
