Introduction
The University has a licence agreement with Microsoft (Campus agreement) that allows the use of selected Microsoft applications and desktop operating systems at no charge.
Products covered
Microsoft products covered under the Campus agreement are:
- Windows desktop operating system upgrade*
- Office Professional Plus (includes: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access, OneNote, Publisher, Workspace/Groove, Communicator & InfoPath)
- Office SharePoint Designer / Expression Web
- Visual Studio Professional
- Enterprise CAL Suite**
- SQL CAL
This Agreement also covers the Macintosh platform but only where Microsoft offers a corresponding product. (eg Office)
* To be eligible for a desktop operating system upgrade the machine you are wishing to upgrade must already have a qualifying Windows operating system licence. (eg windows XP Home OEM) The supply of an OEM Windows operating system is a mandatory requirement of all UniSA Designated PC Suppliers.
Microsoft products not covered under this agreement would normally be purchased under our Select Agreement.
CAL (Client Access Licence) Information
A CAL is required for a workstations to connect to a specific Microsoft server such as those listed below. The Campus Agreement includes Enterprise CAL Suite** and SQL CALs.
** Enterprise CAL Suite includes:
- Windows Server CAL
- ForeFront Security Suite
- Office Communications Standard and Enterprise CAL
- SharePoint Standard and Enterprise CAL
- Exchange Server Standard and Enterprise CAL
- Rights Management Server CAL
- System Centre Configuration Management CML
- System Centre Operations Manager OML
Who can use Microsoft products under this agreement?
Microsoft products covered under this agreement can only be used by current UniSA staff and students on University owned (must have a Blue Plate) computer systems.
Licence Conditions
Conditions apply for the use of University licensed software. These include:
- To be eligible for a desktop operating system upgrade the machine you are wishing to upgrade must already have a valid Windows operating system licence. (eg windows XP home OEM) The supply of an OEM Windows operating systems is a mandatory requirement of all UniSA Designated PC Suppliers.
- UniSA licensed software is not to be used for personal purposes and cannot be used for commercial gain.
- Under no circumstances can application software or licence activation keys be copied from the University software distribution server and taken off site.
- You will read and abide by the licence agreement(s) associated with this Software.
How to obtain a licence and install the product
University staff wishing to install a product covered by the Microsoft Campus Agreement should contact the IT Help Desk. They can arrange installation of software by your local IT support staff.

Approved versions
Approved versions of Microsoft Windows and Office Suites are published on the UniSA SOE information page.
Microsoft SharePoint Designer 2010, SharePoint Workspace 2010 and InfoPath 2010 are not approved or supported for use on UniSA computer systems. These applications are not compatible in the UniSA environment.

Can I use this software at home?
UniSA staff can use Microsoft desktop software on their home computer under this licence agreement, but there are conditions. For more information please visit the ISTS "Microsoft Work at Home software" web page.
