Supplier On-Site testing requirements
On-site testing should include a check of the following items:
- Power up system and ensure that it boots correctly and that the keyboard and mouse works.
- If the system has a DVD drive, test a data DVD can be browsed.
- If the system has a sound card, check that the speakers work and sounds play.
- If the system has both a sound card and DVD Drive, check an audio CD plays through the speakers.
- If the system has a tape backup unit, check it works by backing up a small directory (say C:\Program Files).
- Check USB ports are functioning. This can be tested by plugging in a USB flash drive and checking that the drive space is accessible.
- Connect the system to the university network using the university supplied network cable from the wall socket.
- Check that the Workstation network name is correctly entered.
- Check that the correct domain is selected.
- Check that all TCP/IP services (including WINS) are configured for DHCP access.
- Check the correct functioning of the IP stack by using the DOS level PING command to WWW.UNISA.EDU.AU
- Ensure that network resources can be seen.
