Return to: ISTS FAQ Home > Password
It is strongly recommended that you keep your password to yourself as it is meant to be confidential and it is your responsibility to ensure that misuse is not in play as a result. That is, if you give your password to your friend and he/she logs on to a University Computer and causes mischief, then it will be you who will be responsible for it.
The University also recommends that you change your password from the default. Your default password is designed to be readily accessible when you first log on to the University system, however if you don't change it, anyone who knows your surname and birth date will be able to "guess" your password and log on as yourself.
As mentioned above you are responsible for any mischief that may be caused by your account, whether by knowingly providing your password to someone else, or by not ensuring your password is secure.
