Why doesn't my webpage appear in the search results?

The University's search engine generates search results by collecting and indexing the following html items embedded in a web page. This occurs every morning at 6am and runs for approximately 20 minutes.
- Document or Page Title:
The document or page title is displayed in the title bar of the browser you are using. eg. <title>Test Page</title> - Keyword and Description Metadata
Both Keyword and Description Metadata are set in the meta name keywords and meta name description fields eg. <meta name="keywords" content="test page, testing">, <meta name="description" content="This is a test."> - Content
- Frequency of search words in entire document or page
The most common reason as to why a webpage does not appear in the search results is that it is missing keyword and description metadata embedded in a webpage.
