Getting Connected on the Wireless Network
Support and Standards

Full support is provided for University owned devices running Windows
and the supported Standard
Operating Environment (SOE).
- Instructions on how to configure your wireless connection are available on the On Campus User Guides and Software web site.
- If you have difficulty configuring your connection you should log a Help Desk call.
- The IT Help Desk may try to assist you over the phone.
- If the wireless connection still won't work then UniSA Staff will be referred to their local IT Support group and UniSA Students will be offered an appointment with ISTS Campus-based staff to assist them.
- Students who attend a wireless appointment must ensure that their device is set to use the English language while assistance is being offered.
- Non-University owned devices, other devices and operating systems are provided with documentation but no additional support can be guaranteed for those platforms. Instructions on how to configure your wireless connection are available on the On Campus User Guides and Software web site.
- Wireless Capability - this can be either inbuilt into the notebook or device, or using a PCMCIA wireless card or USB device. The wireless capability must be either the 802.11b or 802.11g standard and should be WiFi certified.
Hardware

A Notebook Computer running one of the following Operating Systems:
- Microsoft Windows 2000, XP Home, XP Pro, Vista) (Supported option) or
- Linux, (Documentation only - no other support) or
- Mac OSX (Documentation only - no other support);
- Or a PDA/handheld device (Documentation only - no other support)
Software

To access the University's network and the Internet via wireless you
will need one of the following:
- a copy of the 802.1x Setup Guide (Windows XP SP2, Vista) - Supported and Preferred Option; or
-
a copy of the Cisco IPSec Setup guide for your operating system, the Cisco IPSec Client software and the configuration file.

Viruses and the network
Please ensure that your computer is running an up-to-date Anti Virus tool, and that your PCs operating system has all updates installed before connecting to the network. The links below provide further information:
