Sustainable energy

An industry forum for the CSIRO Intelligent Grid Cluster program was conducted in the Bradley Forum, Hawke Building, City West Campus 4/5 December 2008.  This Cluster is a major three year collaborative research venture between the CSIRO and five of Australia's leading universities under the CSIRO Energy Transformed Flagship.  This forum was an opportunity to hear from the Intelligent Grid Cluster researchers as well as Government and Industry leaders.  The 2-day event commenced with an optional field trip to Lochiel Park Green Development hosted by the Land Management Corporation.  The following presentations from the forum are available for you to download:

Dr Andrew Simpson
Research Fellow in Sustainable Transport, Curtin University, outlined a vision for the role of electric-drive vehicles in sustainable cities.  In conjunction with Australian and New Zealand Solar Energy Society (SA Branch) he conducted a seminar entitled Electric vehicles and their renewable connection - how Australia can take part in the green revolution (pdf file 2.96 MB).

Mr Phil Donaldson
Senior Manager Sustainability Policy and Programs, Lochiel Park: progress and prospects.

Dr Michael Geyer
Concentrated solar power on the international scene - worldwide incentives, policies and projects.  This function was hosted by the Australian and New Zealand Solar Energy Society (SA Branch) and the Australian Institute of Physics.

Mrs Violeta Babovic
Attended Green TECH 08, 3rd Australian International Green Build, Design and Technology Show conducted at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre.  This international trade show had a focus on green building, sustainable design and clean technology.  Today we are part of a global community connected through economic, technological, socio political and ecological systems.  Now, more than ever, the choices we make at home and at work impact not only our own welfare but also the welfare of people in distant lands and future generations.  Sustainable development is a social process that involves technological innovation.

Trevor Lee
