In
2003 the Adelaide City Council and the University of South Australia formed
a 3 year partnership to develop innovative approaches to manage the city's
road transport network and measure its performance. Leading edge
expertise was used by UniSA to construct a model of the
transport network and develop advanced technology 'add-on' solutions to
inform transport policy by predicting network capacity, driver behaviour and
the environmental impact of CBD growth. The model has successfully
predicted changes to traffic flows caused by construction of new light rail
service through the heart of the city, changes to traffic circulation around
Victoria Square and the city's most eminent cultural and institutional
boulevard - North Terrace.

The ISST has performed a number of important tasks for the Mawson Lakes
Economic Development Project being developed by Delfin Lend Lease in
partnership with the South Australian Government's Land Management
Corporation. The Mawson Lakes project has an objective to set new standards
for sustainable development. As such its water recycling system and
energy efficient housing are key features of the project. The
University of SA, ISST or it's predecessors have been a key player in the
innovative features in providing research and practical advice to enable
these initiatives to be successfully implemented. We have found ISST's work
to be timely, efficient and of high quality.

The Orlando Wyndham Group is adding value to its business through a
working relationship with UniSA. The outcome for the grape
sampling device is really to add to our ability to analyse raw material as
we receive it ... it's going to add substantial value to our business and
what we can do with the grapes coming in the gate, what their composition is
and how they should be treated within the winery. ISST will definitely
be among the first people that we'll call to come and help us in the future.

We have had the pleasure of working with the ISST team for over 10 years
in the development and application of complex mathematics and computational
techniques to solve important railway scheduling and train energy
optimisation problems. We have successfully applied the work of ISST in
commercial applications now available on the market.

My UniSA studies provided me with excellent technical and project
management skills. Surprisingly, even though I changed industries when
I left university many of the skills that I had gained are still highly
relevant to my current employer.
