Six
months research to find the best human resources management program led AusAID
scholarship holder Thu Anh Nguyen to the University of South Australia.
UniSA's programs "not only give students the foundations in the field and
academic knowledge, but also encourage applying that knowledge to issues in the
real world today. Applying skills in real-world experiences is promoted in
almost all courses."
Thu Anh also found the support provided to students made a real difference.
"Student support is paramount at UniSA. Lecturers, Tutors and Learning
Connection staff of UniSA are enthusiastic in helping international students
with their problems relating to both studying and personal lives." This support
began while Thu Anh was still in Vietnam making her decision, "I sent many
emails to the program director to ask for further information on the program, I
received his reply in a friendly and effective way." "The quality of study
support at UniSA is highly wonderful."
The opportunity to live in Adelaide was another drawcard. "My friends who have
studied at UniSA recommend Adelaide as a very beautiful, peaceful and safe city
which is obviously good for studying. After nearly six months staying here, I do
agree with their recommendation." Although still making adjustments to life in
Australia Thu Anh finds that while "there are still many strange things for me,
people are friendly and help me to adapt to living in Adelaide.” Living costs
are another advantage “the living cost is not too high like in Sydney or
Melbourne " and Thu Anh has found that "it is not too difficult to look for a
part-time job for you and full- time job for your dependants."
Thu Anh is sure she made the right decision. "Studying at the UniSA gives me both
opportunities and challenges. I have many chances to update my knowledge
utilising new teaching and training methods and using modern technologies. The
most important aspect for me is that I try my best to overcome the barrier of
language and master my study with the purpose of being a good student certified
by UniSA and being able to apply the knowledge into my environment on return to
Vietnam."
