Masahiro Tsuchiyama

Masahiro was drawn to UniSA by the number of other International students studying Health Sciences.

When he graduates, he is confident his skills will be valuable in Australia or elsewhere.

"I want to work, but not necessarily in Australia."

This international approach is fostered by UniSA’s teaching staff and "(Adelaide is) very multicultural. I find the working style is very different. Australian people are very laid back, more relaxed (than Japan)."

The other aspect of the program he likes is the emphasis on work experience.

"It shows you exactly what you’re going to be doing when you graduate," Masahiro says. "There’s a lot of stuff I didn’t know, for example how (pharmacists) relate to the public. I’ve found that good communication is one of the most important aspects."

Studying at City East campus has advantages. CELUSA (the English college), café’s and other facilities are on campus and it is located within the CBD.

"…the labs have really good facilities - they’re all new. I use the computer pool a lot because I like to study late and I often stay at uni. It’s open 24 hours.”

And what about when he’s not studying 24/7?

"I was in the ballroom dancing club last year – for social (not competitive) reasons."

That should come in handy anywhere in the world!
