About regional South Australia

Whyalla CampusSouth Australia offers plenty of opportunities for a unique and truly Australian experience beyond the metropolitan area. If you choose to study and live in Adelaide, you will discover that it is the perfect base for exploring Australia’s diverse attractions. Drive just one hour from the city, for example, and you’ll find world-famous wine regions, picturesque coastline, quaint villages, and the majestic Murray River.

Even further afield in the state’s north are the breathtaking Flinders Ranges and outback, covering more than 80 per cent of the state and offering spectacular ancient ranges, open desert spaces, lakes, wildflowers and wildlife, historic towns, and a fascinating Aboriginal and European history.

In the south-east of the state, you can experience the food and wine of the Limestone Coast and take in the region’s prehistoric landscape of volcanic craters, lakes, caves and fascinating underground waterways.

For a truly unforgettable Australian experience, you may want to study in a regional area. UniSA is the only university in South Australia to offer programs outside the metropolitan area, from the city of Whyalla in the state’s north-west and in the south-eastern city of Mount Gambier. You can find out more information about living in Whyalla or Mt Gambier by visiting our Centre for Regional Engagement website (this link opens in a new browser window).
