Ms. Jane Lawrence (Lecturer - Interior Architecture)
Jane
is the Interior Architecture Studio Course Coordinator and the
Schools’ representative on the Teaching and Learning Committee. She
has received 3 University awards for teaching in collaboration with
her colleague, Rachel Hurst. These awarded teaching practises
respond to cultural difference and expression, clear language,
flexibility, regional specificity and socio-economic circumstances
and from the basis of one of her research areas.
As studio coordinator Jane has developed a highly integrated program
for final year which engages students in real projects that make
connections with corporate client groups and local government.
She is currently involved in University research projects on
students’ transition to University and student retention.
Janes other research area identifies links between design and
gastronomy. She is currently writing a chapter with Rachel Hurst for
Architecture Design issue ‘Food and the City’ to be published in the
US in 2005.
