The Interior Architecture program is distinguished by its strong connections with the design profession and recognises the importance of establishing an interface between students and practitioners. Interior Architecture Professional Practice Week is an annual event that enables students at every year level to apply their practical, theoretical and philosophical knowledge to professional design practice. It also gives students the opportunity to become familiar with the nature of the interior design profession providing valuable insight that can assist them in their career planning.

Interior Architecture Professional Practice Week 2008 includes a seminar panel of 8 interior design practitioners that allowed final year students an opportunity to gather career planning advice and discuss the nature of contemporary interior design practice; visits to professional design studios where practicing interior designers presented their work and discussed their practice with 1st year students; and the launch of the Mentor Scheme for final year students and the Workplacement requirement for 2nd and 3rd year students. The week is highlighted by a social event for students, practitioners and invited guests with an exhibition of current studio work, which allowed students and professionals to network informally and establish contact.
