Mentor scheme
In 4th year, each Bachelor of Interior Architecture student is
matched with an interior design practitioner who acts as a design mentor
for the duration of the student’s final year.
Mentors are carefully selected to ensure that students’ interests,
skills and career plans are matched with their mentor’s expertise and
experience in practice.
A number of structured workshops are scheduled throughout the year for
all mentors and students come together to meet and discuss common
issues. Between these times, students and mentors are encouraged to
arrange their own regular meetings on an ongoing basis.
Students are encouraged to discuss design issues with their mentor,
ranging from specific studio project problems to career planning
strategies. Students find that mentors are able to provide particularly
useful assistance with regard to:
- Providing specific advice on final year studio
project work
- Professional networking and acting as a contact within the interior
design industry
- Acting as a professional referee for students’ Curriculum Vitae when
job seeking
