National Designex field trip

The Interior Architecture Program hosts an annual student field trip to the national interior design exhibition Designex. The location for Designex alternates each year between Sydney and Melbourne. Students organise their own travel and accommodation and then take advantage of the rich and full 4 day schedule that is prepared by Program lecturers. The field trip is for 4 days and apart from visiting the Designex Exhibition, also includes visits to:

• Interior design and architecture offices with talks by design practitioners from these offices. These practitioners are often graduates from the UniSA program who are now working interstate
• Furniture design studios and showrooms
• Galleries, museums and exhibitions with tours by gallery and museum staff
• Contemporary, award-winning interiors
• Other Universities to meet students from other Interior Design Programs and view studio work

The annual DIA Australasian Interior Design Student Competition is also announced at the Designex Exhibition and we visit the exhibition of all the entered work. It is a huge thrill for our students to see their own work exhibited and benchmark their skills with that of other interior students from around Australia and New Zealand.
Students from all years of the Program are encouraged to attend and the trip is a great way for students to mix across year-levels.
