IMPORTANT
INFORMATION TO ALL AGENTS
Unfortunately UniSA is no longer able to offer
international students our 54 unit masters programs which
are CRICOS registered over 2 year duration. Please refer to
the attached list of affected programs.
Background
Following recent advice from the South Australian authority
(that assists in the administration of the ESOS Act), the
definition of full time student load has recently been
clarified. This definition now makes it clear that programs
must be CRICOS registered on the basis of a 100% load.
However, UniSA’s 54 unit masters programs registered over 2
years are based on a 75% load (as was allowed prior to this
clarification.)
Action Plan
We have had extensive consultation with the Government and
have agreed upon a plan to phase out 2 year 54 unit Masters
Programs. The University of South Australia will honour both
conditional and unconditional current offers for 2009 when
they are accepted so students can complete the programs as
planned. Also, students who have already accepted their
offer for 2009, or students who are currently studying will
be able to complete their program as planned. We will be
withdrawing offers and acceptances in the pipeline for 2010
and offering alternative programs for commencement in 2010.
However, we will be making no new offers from December 12th
2008 for these affected programs. We appreciate that this
may negatively impact on our market but we hope the
alternative programs under development will have similar
appeal. UniSA is well known for the range and diversity of
our programs and further advice on how to counsel
prospective students interested in those programs will be
forwarded in the next few days. Additionally, UniSA is
working toward revising program content and will forward
news of those updates early in the New Year.
Please note – this issue and phase out plan described
below does not affect the 54 unit masters programs which are
CRICOS registered and delivered over 1.5 years.
Please refer your students to our electronic marketing
material which will be changed immediately to reflect this -
http://www.unisa.edu.au/international/docs/UniSA_2009_PG_Table.pdf
rather than the hard copy Postgraduate Handbooks.
On behalf of the University, I regret any inconvenience this
may cause and I look forward to your continuing support
through this transition period.
If you have questions in relation to this communication
please direct them to your contact in the Marketing and
Recruitment Team at UniSA International. I wish you, your
staff and your family very best wishes for 2009.
