2007 Quality Projects
Admission and Application Processing Quality Framework
A detailed review of the admissions and application processing function was completed in the first half of 2007 with the objective of improving conversion and turn around times and building a quality framework to support the processes. The report, produced in June 2007, identified areas for improvement, strategies for change and actions to be undertaken in four areas:
- Human Resources – training, induction, performance development, building resilience for change
- Business Processes – mapping, identification of inefficiencies, development of a manual, piloting of an electronic scanning and filing system, increased delegation for offers to UI
- Apply Online – review of data capture, reporting
- Document Management – use of SharePoint to store and control documents.
Work to implement strategies for change began in the second half of 2007.

Transnational Quality Framework
The development of robust quality assurance systems for all aspects of transnational program management is part of the University's broader international strategy. As such, in November 2006 the University was successful in gaining ISO 9001:2000 certification for the Transnational Quality Framework. This Framework covers the development of the business cases for new and amended Transnational Programs beginning with the initial program concept through to approval by the Academic Board.
For further information, please contact Tania Beard, Manager: Quality and Compliance.
2005 Quality Projects
Transnational Management Group
Reporting periodically to the International Quality Steering Group, the Transnational Management Group was established in 2005 to facilitate University-wide collaboration and communication regarding transnational program management issues and transnational partner communication. The Group also provides a forum for sharing intelligence and discussing significant policy and systems initiatives.
For further information, please contact Tania Beard, Manager: Quality and Compliance.
International and Transnational Mapping Project
Following the 2003 annual reviews the Executive Director International and Development sponsored the International and Transnational Mapping Project to map existing international activity within each of the divisions and document the issues. The final report provides a snapshot of the divisional strategy, people and processes involved in: international onshore recruitment, transnational programs, student mobility and development and consultancy.
For further information, please contact Carole Lydon, Project Officer: International Relations.
Information Management Project
UniSA International developed a centralised transnational contact and program database in close collaboration with the Divisional transnational administrators. The database records programs based on their approval and delivery status. Additional collections of information in this system feed into the Country Reference Group reporting system.
For further information, please contact Brian Pike, Acting Coordinator International Relations.
2004 Quality Projects
Transnational Program Business Case Project Management - ISO 9001:2000 Certification Readiness Assessment

Implementation of Transnational Program Review Actions
Recommendations arising from the Transnational Program Review Cycle and the pilot Transnational Student Experience Questionnaire conducted in 2003 prompted a range of quality projects across the Acacdemic Divisions and Central Units of the University. While these projects commenced in 2004, many of them are ongoing or will continue through 2005.
For further information regarding the program of quality projects please contact Rob Greig, Director: UniSA International.
2003 Quality Projects
In 2003, Transnational Education was selected as a UniSA 2003 Corporate Priority elevating the level of engagement in transnational program quality assurance.
Project Quality System
The Project Quality System (PQS) was developed to manage revenue generating projects across the University. Initially designed for research projects, the University has developed an application of the system for use in managing the quality during the development of transnational programs. Partner selection, contract development, budget preparation and strategic fit of future transnational programs and partners are addressed in the PQS enhancement.
For more information please contact the ISO Quality Officer, Mark Gorringe.
Transnational Student Services Protocol
Transnational activities have raised a challenge in terms of the equitable delivery of student services to all students studying with the University, no matter where they are located. A working party determined the range of student services that would be offered to transnational students and how those services would be managed according to University equity policy. The working party’s recommendations were submitted to the University Council in April 2002.
Transnational Program Review Cycle
Developed and endorsed by the International Quality Steering Group, the framework for reviewing transnational programs in 2003 is based on the self assessment audits of the West Review (Word - staff access only). The review team will request and consider self assessment reports from transnational programs and conduct site visits. The Transnational Program Review Cycle is intended to operate within existing quality assurance processes.

Transnational Student Evaluation Questionnaire
Every two years, the University surveys students at Australian campuses for feedback on all aspects of University life. In 2003, the University piloted the Transnational Student Evaluation Questionnaire with students enrolled in programs delivered in English by significant University partners. Results from the confidential survey are used to improve teaching and learning and support services for transnational students.
