Standards of the National Code


Registration

The University of South Australia is registered on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS) as an education provider eligible for the provision of education and training services to overseas students. The University of South Australia CRICOS Provider Number is 00121B.

The University must disclose its CRICOS Provider Number on all documents and materials intended for international students.

The University registration must be renewed every five years and accurately reflect the number of students to be enrolled on campus.

Programs offered to international students must be registered. The University may only register fully approved and duly accredited programs which are available in internal full time delivery mode. The program can not be registered if the online/distance education component exceeds 25% of the entire program duration. At least one internal mode / face-to-face course must be offered each study period. The University must not advertise or promote programs which do not have a CRICOS code. Educational Resources, Premises and Facilities

The University must have adequate premises, facilities, resources and staff numbers to be able to deliver educational services to the number of students specified in the registration.

Marketing and Recruitment

The University is responsible for the accuracy and content of information about the institution and its programs which must not contain any misleading comments or comparison with other education providers.

The information about the University, its programs, services and policies pertinent to international students as well as information about the Australian living environment including life style, cost of living, and accommodation must be provided to students prior to admission.

Formalisation of Enrolment and refunds

The University must enter into a written agreement with the student signed by the student. The agreement must specify program information including total fees, duration and program structure, access to professional placement, facilities, entry criteria and English language requirements must be provided to all prospective students prior to admission.

The agreement signed by the student and the University consists of two parts: Acceptance and Payment Form and Guidelines on Payment and Refund of Tuition Fees for International Students.

Once signed, this agreement must be honoured by both the University and the student and if any party is unable to adhere to this agreement, refund of program money will be processed as specified in the Guidelines. The Guidelines are embedded in the University Student Fees Policy No: A - 47.4.

Transfer to another institution within the first six months

International students accepted in a program must study with UniSA for at least the first six months of their program. To transfer to another provider within the first six months, the student needs to request a Release Letter. Release may be granted only in compassionate and compelling circumstances and must be supported by written evidence.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Credit can be granted to students prior to admission or after the study has commenced. Necessary documents must be supplied by the student. The University Policy on credit transfer will apply. Agents and Associates

The University has contractual agreements with International representatives. The University is responsible for all actions undertaken by a person or organisation it engages to formally represent it.

Student Records

Information about accepted students must be provided by the University to DEEWR and DIAC via PRISMS within 14 days of program place acceptance.

Under 18 Students

The University must approve and monitor the accommodation and welfare arrangements for an international student for the period they are under 18 years of age while studying at UniSA.  The welfare responsibility is accepted by the University when the student is not residing with a parent or a suitable relative.

Student Services

The University must employ appropriately qualified and experienced staff to deliver counselling and support services to international students to assist them with successful adjustment to new environment as well as resolution of any problems that could negatively affect their studies.
