Field trips - Bachelor of Industrial Design (DBDI)

Bauhaus (Germany study tour 2003)The Louis Laybourne Smith School offers regular national and overseas field trips which are open to interested students in the LLS School of Architecture and Design. Recent field trips include the 2002 Spanish summer field trip to Madrid, Bilbao and Barcelona, and the 2003 study tour to Germany including stops in Frankfurt, Hannover, Berlin, Dresden and Frankfurt.
Field trips are offered as a means for students to gain invaluable exposure to international design events, organisations and attractions. Students are encouraged to take the opportunity to experience the wealth of design expertise and varying approaches taken by our international counterparts, by such means as site visits to internationally recognised companies, manufacturers, museums, public works, conferences and design centres.
International exposure to global design is complemented by a range of field trips offered to design centres around Australia, in particular to large design and manufacturing houses in Melbourne and Sydney, along the East coast of Australia.
