IGSB Updates May 2006
Week ending 5th May
- Associate Professor Peter Lok’s article with John Crawford, 'The
relationship between commitment and organizational culture,
subculture, leadership style and job satisfaction in organizational
commitment', in Leadership and Organizational Development Journal,
20, 7, 365-373, has won an award for the Emerald LiteratiNetwork
–'Most downloaded articles - top 200 globally' in 2005.
Week ending 12th May
- Bobby Banerjee has been invited to convene a sub-theme for the
Critical Management Studies research workshop at the Academy of
Management Meetings in Atlanta, Georgia. The subtheme 'Imperialism,
Nationalism and Globalization: Unpacking the Organizational Elements
of the New World Order' has accepted 11 papers for the workshop which
will be held August 11-12 at the Georgia Tech Hotel and Convention
Center, Atlanta.
- Bobby has also been invited to join the editorial board of the
journal Organization & Environment published by Sage
publications. He has accepted the invitation for a two year
appointment starting June 2006.
- Congratulations to Barry Elsey, who has accepted the role of a
Business Ambassador for the State of South Australia. The invitation
was given by Her Excellency Marjorie Jackson-Nelson AC CVO MBE
Governor of South Australia.
- The 'Letter of the Week' in last week's Business Review Weekly
was written by Prof. David Corkindale. It suggested that the BRW's
Marketing writer had failed to realise a change in who undertakes much
marketing decision making in many companies: non-marketers.
Week ending 19th May
- Mr Basil Tucker, Professor Helen Thorne and Associate Professor
Bruce Gurd have had their paper entitled, ‘Measuring what matters – an
approach to evaluating performance in the third sector’, accepted for
presentation in the refereed stream at the Australian and New Zealand
Third Sector Research Conference: Navigating New Waters to be held in
Adelaide from the 26th to 28th November 2006.

Week ending 26th May
- Dr Barry Elsey has been invited to a reception at Government House
on Friday 26th May as a special guest of the President of the SA
College of Educators and to the Australian College of Educators
conference dinner afterwards.
- Professor Helen Thorne will be visiting Bangkok, Singapore, and
Kuala Lumpur from Sunday 28th May to Monday 5th June inclusive.
Professor David Corkindale will assume Acting Head of School
responsibility during this time.
