Eligibility criteria

PhD

Applicants seeking admission to the PhD program shall normally have the following qualifications:

All applicants must submit a 1,000 word outline of a proposed research topic as part of their admission application. Where, during the application process, concerns are raised about the English proficiency of an applicant from either of the English language proficiency categories, the 1,000 word outline will be considered as an additional basis for assessing the applicants suitability for the program.

Additionally, where, during the application process, concerns are raised about the English proficiency of an applicant, the applicant may be required to submit to an interview prior to acceptance into the program.

The final decision concerning the eligibility and acceptability of qualifications and research areas for the PhD program rests with the University of South Australia.

DBA

Applicants seeking admission to the DBA program shall normally have the following qualifications:

Where, during the application process, concerns are raised about the English proficiency of an applicant from either of the English language proficiency categories, the 1000 word outline will be considered as an additional basis for assessing the applicants suitability for the program.

Additionally, where, during the application process, concerns are raised about the English proficiency of an applicant, the applicant may be required to submit to an interview prior to acceptance into the program.

The final decision concerning the eligibility and acceptability of qualifications and research areas for the DBA (OPBA) program rests with the University of South Australia.

Note: Applicants holding the UniSA award, Graduate Diploma in Management Research, shall normally be admitted to the DBA (DPBA/OPBA) program if they have completed each course of the GMR with a minimum of P2 grade with an average grade of P1 or above over the five courses, and satisfactory submission and defence of their research proposal as a DBA proposal with a grade of P1 or above.

MBA

Entrants to the program shall normally hold a university degree or equivalent professional qualifications and be able to demonstrate a minimum of two years' full-time work experience at professional/executive/project/managerial level. At the discretion of the Program Director, applicants who do not meet these entry requirements may be accepted.

The IGSB also reserves the right to request completion of the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) to a satisfactory level.

At the discretion of the Program Director, applicants who do not meet the normal entry requirements may be admitted on a provisional basis. Such applicants may not hold a recognised undergraduate degree but will normally have in excess of 10 years of full-time senior managerial/professional experience (or a minimum of six years of full-time managerial/professional work experience and a career path at senior level indicating outstanding management potential) OR will possess a three-year full-time post-secondary diploma or equivalent professional qualification with five years of full-time managerial/professional work experience. The number of such admissions will be limited and continuation in the program will depend on achieving a 65% (Credit) average over the first four courses of the program. Applicants who possess a Graduate Certificate in Business Administration but do not possess an undergraduate degree must have gained a 65% (Credit) average in their postgraduate studies to be eligible for admission to the MBA program.

In the English program, where English is not the applicant's first language OR where English proficiency cannot be demonstrated by prior studies, then an IELTS (academic) score of 6.5 with a minimum writing sub-score of 6.0 will be required for entry into the program. Alternative proof of proficiency in English (e.g. equivalent level of the University Entrance Certificate or TOEFL) may be accepted depending on the country of origin of the applicant.

In the Chinese program students will be expected to be proficient in Mandarin.

At the discretion of the Program Director, applicants who do not meet the normal entry requirements may be admitted on a provisional basis. Such applicants may not hold a recognised undergraduate degree or six years of relevant full-time managerial/professional experience, but will possess a three year full-time post-secondary diploma or equivalent professional qualification with five years of full-time managerial/professional work experience.

In all cases the IGSB also reserves the right to request completion of the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) to a satisfactory level.
