Entry is on a competitive basis. The minimum formal entry requirement is an acceptable Bachelor's degree.

For international applicants for whom English is a second language, the minimum English language requirements are :

  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test: Minimum score of 6.0 in Reading and Writing sub scores and minimum overall score of 6.5 obtained within the last two years or corresponding results from an equivalent test such as TOEFL, CET (Cambridge English Test) or UEC (University Entry Certificate at CELUSA);
    OR
  • Successful completion of a tertiary qualification at bachelor level or above completed in Australia within the last two years;
    OR
  • Successful completion of two or more years of tertiary study at bachelor level or above conducted and completed in English within the last five years in a country in which:
    • English is an official language; or
    • English is commonly used, as determined by the University.
  • Where the study in English was more than five years ago, this requirement may be satisfied by subsequent and recent work experience of 2 or more years duration in a setting where English is the language of business subject to satisfactory evidence as determined by the University.

Australian citizens and Australian permanent residents

Applications will only be considered ready for assessment when the online application is successfully submitted, and the following documentation is received in hard-copy:

  • certified copies of any degrees, diplomas, certificates or official transcripts
  • where applicable, appropriate English language documentation as outlined above

All documents must be in English and any translations must be accompanied by the documents in their original language. These documents must be submitted in original or certified true copies.

Advanced Standing (Credit/Exemption)

Credit is only considered for courses successfully completed at an equivalent (Masters) level at institutions recognised by the National Office for Overseas Skills Recognition (NOOSR).

Applications for credit must be submitted on the appropriate form. Download the credit application form (PDF 54 kb Adobe Acrobat Reader).

Applications must be submitted before the commencement of the program to be considered.

Applicants may need to present their case in a way that indicates a clear understanding of the course/s for which credit is sought together with the appropriate documentary evidence. Tests may form part of the assessment process. When applying for credit the following items must be submitted for assessment:

  • An official transcript for studies completed at a tertiary institution;
  • A course outline or long form syllabus which gives details of:
    • Topics covered;
    • Number of contact hours;
    • Assessment requirements and mode of assessment.

Candidates should note that applications for credit for courses undertaken more than five years previous are unlikely to be successful.

Credit is not provided for practical knowledge or experience.

Closing dates

Intakes are open in Term 1, 2, 3 and 4 (Study Period 1, 3, 4 and 6) and applicants need to specify the term (study period) in which they wish to commence their study. Terms (study periods) normally start in January, April, July and September. Applicants who miss the closing date for commencement in their chosen term (study period) will automatically be considered for entry in the next available term (study period).
