Quality Accreditation

International Accreditation

European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS)

The International Graduate School of Business, the home of the MIB is part of UniSA's Division of Business. The Division of Business is accredited by the European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS), the most prestigious international accreditation for business schools.

The latest re-accreditation took place in late 2010. Notably, the Division was the first business school in Australia to attain accreditation for both our onshore and offshore operations.

The Division is one of only 8 Australian business schools accredited by EQUIS. Worldwide, there are 131 EQUIS-accredited business schools across 38 countries in Europe, North and South America, Africa, Asia and Australia.

All of these EQUIS-accredited institutions must demonstrate high quality in all their activities, including research, teaching, student services, internationalisation and connections with the corporate world.

Accreditation is awarded after a rigorous assessment by a panel of international academics and industry leaders.

EQUIS is run by the European Foundation for Management Development.

Academy of Business In Society (ABIS)

The IGSB has been invited to become an Associate Member of the Academy of Business in Society. We are the only Business School in Australia to be invited to become a member.

ABIS was establish in 2002 by 15 founding partners after their CEOs and Deans agreed that there was an urgent need for greater knowledge and skills regarding issues surrounding business in society. These 15 multinationals and major Universities, remain active members today.

Esade Business School Insead Merick Leuven Gent Management School Warwick Business School

In extending an invitation to us, ABIS noted "we are impressed with the leadership role that the University of South Australia is playing in developing managers and by its desire to shape issues and skills related to business in society in Asia. UniSA would make a quality partner, and we would be very pleased to welcome our first Australian member, expanding our rapidly growing network to 19 countries and 3 continents

Membership will provide us with the opportunity to achieve greater internationalisation of our programs, and more internationalisation of our research.

Membership will also give us the opportunity to lead the integration of Eastern and Western management styles across the Asia Pacific Region. We will now have access to resources and networks which enable us to promote issues related to Corporate Social Responsibility and Business in Society, more strongly in our research, teaching and case studies.

Another benefit of membership in terms of research will be the opportunity to obtain more conceptual clarity of the roles of business in society and to be able to articulate the underlying paradigms. Arising from our active membership of ABIS, we will be better equipped, via trans-national research frameworks, to conduct more rigorous empirical research in examining and explaining the role of business in globalizing society. We will then be able to encourage further research to examine and explain the role of business in society in its cultural and contextual dimensions through comparative and cross-cultural studies, especially in our region.

AUQA

AUQA 2009 Audit

The Australian Universities Quality Agency is an independent, not-for-profit national agency that promotes, audits, and reports on quality assurance in Australian higher education. The AUQA audits are conducted regularly for all Australian universities and other higher education institutions to provide public assurance of the quality of Australia's higher education providers and to assist in enhancing the academic quality of these institutions. The University of South Australia's second AUQA audit was completed in October 2009.

The University of South Australia has emerged from its second national quality audit with strong commendations for the clarity of its vision, its energy, and its development of teaching, learning and research.

The auditors said that "UniSA has a strong sense of direction, is well organised, effectively governed and managed and is tackling core issues through its focus on workforce reform. It seems well placed to deliver on its ambitious agenda".
