Assessment
IGSB assessment guidelines and
procedures are developed within the
assessment policy of the University of South Australia. Assessment in IGSB
programs aims to
appropriately measure and recognise the achievements of individual students
relative to the learning objectives stated for each MBA course.
The procedures and guidelines are based on the principles of:
- transparency of processes and decision making, including detailed feedback on performance
- inclusivity and equity
- student participation and student centred learning
- relevance of assessment methods to participant needs and course aims and objectives
- balance between encouraging and motivating students and legislative and policy requirements.
The IGSB assessment policy supports the belief that management education should prepare managers who can apply knowledge and skills to solving business and management problems. All assessment items will therefore have an application and problem solving orientation.
There will be a minimum of three assessment items for each course, one of which will be an examination. This aims at providing a balance of different assessment methods and at reducing the stress associated with too much weighting on the value of examinations.
All examinations will be open-book. This means that you can bring into the examination venue the following materials:
- prescribed textbook(s) for the course
- the course study guide
