Academic staff qualifications

The percentage of academic staff holding a doctoral qualification is a Corporate key performance indicator (KPI).

The University’s 2008 Corporate KPI target for academic staff with a doctorate is 56%.

As at 31 March 2008, 60.7% of academic staff held a doctoral qualification. There has been a marked increase over recent years in the percentage of academic staff holding a doctorate qualification. See the 2008 Annual Workforce Profile Report for further information.

The University's target of increasing staff with doctoral qualifications relates to the development of staff capability. It is a significant leading indicator of capacity for achieving strategic goals in research. Initiatives to support this will include:
