Leave Reduction

If considering an earlier return to work date than first planned, please contact your manager to agree on an appropriate return to work date. An application for a reduction in leave time should be received at least four weeks before your intended return to work date. An early return to work date cannot be guaranteed and is dependent upon the position and the contract of your replacement.

  

If you are unsure of how long you wish to take for maternity/adoption leave, it is advisable to indicate the lesser period of leave.  

 

In cases where the pregnancy terminates and maternity or adoption leave has commenced or has been applied for and not commenced or the child dies whilst the staff member is on maternity leave, you may be entitled to take a special maternity leave period as per the applicable industrial instrument. If you wish to opt for a return to work, you must give the University at least four weeks notice of your intended return.
