Human Resource teams
The Human Resources Unit is comprised of the following teams:
HR SERVICES TEAM
The Human Resource Services team supports managers and human resource
professionals across the University to provide best practice in
management of the staff of the University of South Australia, and
provides advice and support on human resource related matters to staff.
- support and advice to human resource professionals across the
University;
- provision of information and support to managers and staff on HR
related matters;
- employment initiatives – traineeships, indigenous cadetships,
graduate program and redeployment;
- performance management program implementation, advice and
support;
- implementation of recruitment and selection processes with a
focus on e-recruitment;
- academic promotions policy review, evaluation and support;
- project management support and evaluation;
- review and implement best practice human resource systems,
processes and activities.
- management of equity and diversity principles
- development and review of HR policies and guidelines.
ORGANISATIONAL DEVELOPMENT TEAM
Organisational Development is a major responsibility of
the HR Unit. The Unit’s role is to:
- provide and co-ordinate development opportunities across the
institution
- serve as catalyst for organisational learning
- complement the work of other providers of professional
development.
To support this role, the Organisational Development
team aims to:
- build common understandings of UniSA’s intent and directions
- engage staff in learning and discussion about the environment in
which we operate
- build capability in response to organisational development
priorities.
Specific responsibilities include:
- induction
- general development programs for all staff
- coordination of professional development programs for individual
staff
- management and promotion of the Indigenous Employment and
Development Strategy to UniSA staff and the wider community.
OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH, SAFETY & WELFARE and INJURY MANAGEMENT TEAM
The OHSW&IM team aims to promote the highest practicable standard of
occupational health, safety, welfare and injury management (OHSW&IM)
within the University and to ensure compliance with legislation for OHSW&IM.
The team provides an OHSW&IM consultancy and advisory service and
will:
- review and measure compliance with the OHSW&IM System and
Performance Standards for Self Insurers
- review of workplace application of the system including
performance against OHSW&IM action plans
- review the effectiveness of the OHSW&IM System
- ensure that the OHSW&IM System is efficient and streamlined and
provides tools to assist workplaces to manage their risks
- provide OHSW&IM information, links and tools via the internet web site
WORKPLACE RELATIONS TEAM
The key objective of the Workplace Relations team is to maintain
effective industrial instruments and processes to support a harmonious
and productive working environment. Services provided by the team
include:
- Industrial and strategic dimensions of workplace change and
restructuring
- Planning and support for Enterprise Bargaining (EB)
- Training and advice on EB related matters and what is appropriate in
the workplace
- Advice on future employment arrangements
- Employment Flexibility
- Training on disciplinary issues
- Misconduct investigations and disciplinary case management
- Negotiation on behalf of the University regarding conditions of
service, settlements and disputes.
REMUNERATION TEAM
The Remuneration team provides senior level advice
and focus on the ongoing implementation and delivery of workforce
planning across the University. The team also provides a range of
remuneration and benefit services and advice to staff of the University.
The team provides the following services
- Advice in relation to remuneration and benefits
- Classification
- Market allowances and non-standard remuneration
- Senior contracts
- Workforce planning project management
- Payroll
- Salary Sacrifice and Packaging
- Superannuation
- HR System administration, support and identification of
enhancements of the Human Resource Information Systems
- Provision of management reports including analysis of the data,
identifying trends and issues in human resources and the development
of strategies to assist in University decision making.
HR ADMINISTRATIVE TEAM
The HR Administrative team is responsible for providing administrative
support for a wide range of initiatives and strategies across the HR
Unit. Services provided by the team include:
- coordination of all HR media advertising for the University
- updating all vacant positions on the University website
- coordination of Corporate Induction sessions
- coordination and administrative support for the senior academic
promotions process
- coordination and administrative support for staff development
programs, in conjunction with the Organisational
Development team
