Human Movement
There is a diverse range of employment opportunities both within Australia and internationally for graduates with a Human Movement degree.
Workforce - varied jobs in the exercise, health promotion, fitness, outdoor adventure or sporting industry. The aged care industry and the prescription of exercise to those with chronic disease is a rapidly increasing area of need and students who follow the Exercise and Sport Science pathway will be well prepared for work in this area.
Further study -
- Bachelor of Education (Secondary) to qualify as a secondary school Health and Physical Education teacher. Some also pursue Outdoor Education or Nutrition in this specialization (18months).
- Graduate Entry Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy (UniSA) - need to fulfill pre-requisites during undergraduate program and meet entry criteria of credit average (2 year programs); competitive entry.
- Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics or Masters of Nutrition and Dietetics (Flinders University) - you can use your electives during the Human Movement program to complete the pre-requisites; need to meet entry criteria (GPA) and competitive entry
- Research - complete an Honours degree (12 months) with possible continuation to PhD (3 years).

Physiotherapy
One of the many benefits of a career in Physiotherapy includes the diverse range of employment opportunities both within Australia and internationally. Graduates of the Bachelor of Physiotherapy at the University of South Australia are eligible for registration as physiotherapists within all states of Australia as well as New Zealand. Our Bachelor of Physiotherapy is also recognised in many other countries, with graduates obtaining registration to work as a physiotherapist overseas including Canada, the UK and USA.
One hundred per cent of graduates of the Bachelor of Physiotherapy in South Australia gain employment. Our graduates may work as part of a health care team or as first contact practitioners. That is, they may treat patients who have not been referred by a doctor.

Podiatry
Most podiatrists work in private practices, although an increasing number are employed in hospitals, community health centres and domiciliary care services. Graduates of the program may initially work as assistants in private practices and many graduates open their own private practices after a short period.

Medical Radiation
Medical Radiation graduates can expect to be employed in hospitals and private practice as diagnostic radiographers, nuclear medicine technologists or radiation therapists according to the speciality they selected during their studies. After graduates complete a professional development year in Australia they are eligible for employment overseas where they are highly regarded.

Occupational Therapy
There is a strong demand for Occupational Therapists across a range of work settings. A national shortage of Occupational Therapists has been identified and government projections are that there will continue to be high demand for qualified Occupational Therapists in Australia. Many Occupational Therapy graduates choose to combine overseas work and travel and find that their UniSA degree provides a good basis for international career opportunities.
