Introduction
The graduate programs offered by the School of Health Sciences (Medical Radiation) are designed using a ‘nested’ model. In effect this means that a student may transfer from a lower level program to one of a higher level and receive credit for their previous studies provided that the entrance requirements are satisfied. Programs offered in ascending order are:
| ICMR | Option A | Graduate Certificate in Medical Radiation |
| ICMR | Option B | Graduate Certificate in Medical Radiation (Breast Imaging) |
| IGSO | Graduate Diploma In Medical Sonography | |
| IGMI | Graduate Diploma in Medical Radiation (for students commencing prior to 2009) | |
| IMSO | Master of Medical Sonography | |
| IMMI | Master of Medical Radiation (for students commencing prior to 2009) |
12 months of full time study is equivalent to 36 units, hence to satisfactorily complete each of the programs, courses must be combined to total the following units:
- Graduate Certificate 18 units
- Graduate Diploma 36 units
- Master 54 units
Courses may be combined to suit the individual student’s study requirements and a discussion with the program director prior to, or at enrolment will define the program. All courses will not be offered in any one year and the course schedule must be taken into account when selecting a program. Minimum student numbers also apply.
Note: The Medical Sonography option of the Graduate Diploma is only available as a prescribed program of study.
