Welcome
The Master of Manual and Sports Physiotherapy (previously called Master of Orthopaedics, Sports and Manual Physiotherapy program) is a two-year coursework Masters commencing in February each year and finishing in November two years later. This Masters consists of a total of sixteen (4.5 unit) courses (ie. subjects). This program has been specifically developed to meet the needs of students whose undergraduate programs have been judged to place less emphasis on manual and sports physiotherapy, and who are particularly seeking the recognition of a two year Masters.
Contemporary health care in general, and orthopaedic, sports and manual physiotherapy in particular, requires therapists' reasoning and practice to be critical, reflective, patient-centred and evidence-based. It is the aim of our program to provide physiotherapists with specialised manual and sports physiotherapy training to enable them to develop and advanced level of evidence-based practice.
Student learning is fostered through a commitment to adult learning principles. Students are expected to actively participate in learning activities provided and contribute to the management of their learning through recognition of individual learning needs and by seeking out additional knowledge, skills and feedback as required.
