Exercise Physiology Clinic

About the Clinic

The Exercise Physiology Clinic offers specialist exercise testing and prescription services to assist with the management and prevention of chronic health conditions, musculoskeletal rehabilitation, medical conditions, disabilities and mental health conditions. Accredited Exercise Physiologists are university qualified specialists in the use of exercise therapy for the management and/or prevention of complex chronic and medical conditions.

This service is open to the general public at minimal or no cost (no cost only where Medicare or other health fund rebates are available). In most instances a referral from a General Practitioner or medical specialist is required.

Upon attending the clinic, all clients will be provided with practical exercise advice and programming. The focus is on equipping clients with the skills to maintain appropriate physical activity habits in the long term. Changes to everyday behaviour including the addition or modification of physical activity habits are not easily achieved. Our staff recognise this, and will assist with this process by helping to identify and work around the barriers to achieving each person’s specific health goals.

Exercise prescription will be tailored to suit individual needs and preferences and can be performed from home or within an exercise training facility (including at the adjacent Health and Fitness Centre). To provide additional motivation and guidance we offer weekly group exercise classes specialising in the management of different health conditions.

All clinical activities are conducted either directly by, or under the direct guidance of, an Accredited Exercise Physiologist. In addition to providing a valuable service to the community the clinic provides a facility for post graduate students studying the specialisation in Clinical Exercise Science and Rehabilitation to advance their clinical skills.
