About the School

Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DEXA) machine measuring total body composition and fat contentThe School of Health Sciences offers a range of undergraduate, postgraduate and research programs. Areas of specialisation within the School include Occupation Therapy, Human Movement, Health Science, Applied Science, Medical Radiation, Podiatry and Physiotherapy. The University of South Australia is the only university in Australia to offer this range of allied health programs within one school. Benefits include more integrated teaching at the undergraduate level and more collaborative research opportunities for both postgraduate students and staff.

UniSA is the only university in the State to offer programs in Physiotherapy, Podiatry, Occupational Therapy, and Medical Radiation. Consequently, our academic staff are amongst the State's leaders in these disciplines.

Designed in consultation with the professional organisations and partners, the School of Health Sciences' programs include fieldwork and clinical placements. The real-world experience whilst studying means graduates are equipped with the qualities employers look for. Our graduates become significant contributors to their chosen professions - people who are instrumental in reshaping the nature of contemporary Australian and regional society.

Research concentrations in the School are the Centre for Allied Health Evidence, the Centre for Applied Anthropometry and the Nutritional Physiology Research Group.
