School of Health Sciences Honours Programs

Honours ProgramsHonours degree programs at UniSA are classified as undergraduate degrees, and are recognised as the first stage in research training. 

UniSA offers two models of honours programs.  The 'Honours Degree' is a separate, stand-alone one-year program of advanced studies for students who demonstrate a high level of achievement on completion of their pass degree program.  'Degrees with Honours' are programs of four or more years which include a minimum of one year of advanced studies for students who demonstrate a high level of achievement in the initial years of the program.


Bachelor of Health Science (Honours)

The Bachelor of Health Science (Honours) is a one year full-time (or equivalent part-time) program which is undertaken following the successful completion of an undergraduate degree program.  This Divisional Honours program is designed to produce graduates who have the capacity to apply advanced research skills and the ability to undertake and manage research projects in a health related field. The program will prepare students for postgraduate study or for employment, particularly in research and development, in their professional or related areas.

'With Honours' Programs

The Degrees with Honours aim to encourage and develop skills in the principles and practice of research.  The following undergraduate degrees have this option available to high-achieving students:

Bachelor of Medical Radiation Science with Honours

High achieving students in the Medical Radiations program may be offered the with Honours option.  This includes projects in the disciplines of Medical Imaging, Nuclear Medicine or Radiation Therapy.  Students will undertake this research training program co-currently with their university based course work and clinical placement in the third and fourth years of the Bachelor of Medical Radiation Science.

Bachelor of Physiotherapy with Honours

Each year a selection of high achieving students in the Bachelor of Physiotherapy program are offered the with Honours option based on academic performance over the first two years of the course.  Students complete this research training program co-currently with the third and fourth year of their respective program.

The Program Director for the Bachelor of Physiotherapy with Honours is Assoc. Prof. Marie Williams.

Bachelor of Podiatry with Honours

Each year a selection of high achieving students in the Bachelor of Podiatry program are offered the with Honours option based on academic performance over the first two years of the course.  Students complete this research training program co-currently with the third and fourth year of their respective program.

Bachelor of Occupational Therapy with Honours

High achieving students in the Occupational Therapy program may be offered the with Honours option.  Students will undertake this research training program co-currently with the third and fourth year of the Bachelor of Occupational Therapy.
