Format a text message
The coloured boxes and buttons containing letters on the left of the text box are used to format text.

Letter buttons
The letter buttons will allow you to format text as bold or underlined and reverse the “normal” colour. The letter buttons function in the following way.
- B formats text as bold: click the “B” button before you begin typing.
- U formats text as underlined: click the “U” button before you being typing.
- R formats text as reverse colour with white against a black background: click the “R” button before you begin typing
- N formats text as “normal” font: click the N button before you begin typing.
Note: This can be used for correcting formatting errors. For example, if you’ve clicked “B” and realise it’s a mistake, you can click “N” and the normal text style will override the bold style.
Colour buttons
The colour buttons will allow you to format text colours. There are 12 colours, two shades of grey and black or white to select from. To format text colour you will need to:
- Click the coloured button you require.
- Begin typing your message.
Note: A number which defines the colour you’ve selected will appear in the text entry box. It will not appear when the message is posted.
Buttons in combination
Buttons can be used in combination to create interesting formatting effects. For example:
- Clicking the B and then U buttons before you begin typing will format text as bold and underlined.
- Clicking the red and then yellow buttons before you begin typing will format red text with yellow background highlight.
- Clicking the B then blue then red buttons before you begin typing will format text as bold blue with red background.
