Opening Microsoft Office files
If you are having difficulty opening Microsoft Office files, it may be that the files were created in the new Office 2007 format. Microsoft have release a compatibility pack that fixes the problem.To install the compatibility pack you need to:

Determine the version of your Microsoft Office software as the compatibility pack can only be installed on a computer that is running Microsoft Office 2003 programs, Microsoft Office XP programs, or Microsoft Office 2000 programs.

Go to Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 File Formats and follow the instructions.
After you have installed the compatibility pack, you can open, edit and save files that have been created using Microsoft Office 2007.
