Honours

Rebecca Nolan

My Honours degree has set me up with the appropriate research skills such as working with my participants and supervisors and learning to control a research project with appropriate time management. My Honours degree has provided me with the invaluable experience of knowing what it takes to work towards a large goal, and achieve it.

My Honours project focused on nursing practice in relation to oral fluid intake of older people with dementia. The knowledge and experience that I gained and the industry relationships that were formed as a result of my Honours year has enabled me to continue to focus on the provision of nutritional care, food and fluids to older people as part of my PhD program. My goal following my PhD studies is to work at UniSA.

I chose to study Honours as I had completed my Undergraduate Degree at UniSA and enjoyed it. I also knew it would increase my chances of getting a job once I completed Honours. I chose to undertake it as I particularly enjoyed subjects involving laboratory work and wanted to further my skills in this area. I knew Honours would also give me an insight into research, which I was considering as a possible career path.
