Medical Radiation Honours students present at ASMMIRT conference

Donna Matthews, Medical Radiation Honours Student, presents her prize winning paper

Medical Radiation Honours students Jennifer Arthur and Donna Matthews recently represented the School of Health Sciences at the Australian and New Zealand Scientific Meeting of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy. The conference was held in Melbourne from the 17-20th of April 2008.

Each presented their prize winners papers that were sponsored by the Australian Institute of Radiography.

Jennifer presented here project findings titled: "An evaluation and comparison of two techniques of post implant dosimetry used for quality assurance of low dose rate prostate brachytheraphy at RAH."

Donna, a part time Honours student, presented her project findings so far titled: "S.A.GP understanding of palliative radiation therapy."

According to Donna "studying Honours is a very challenging experience and the chance to contribute to a project that may impact patient care in my profession as a radiation therapist is really fulfilling."

Donna hopes to finish her Honours project by the end of this year and  to extend the project further to a PHD if the opportunity arises.
