I
chose to study podiatry because I have received podiatric care
throughout my childhood and thought that a career in this field would be
fulfilling and enjoyable. UniSA is the only university in Adelaide that
offers the degree. UniSA is also highly regarded and conveniently
located.
What I like most about UniSA is studying with students from a range of
backgrounds and ages who share similar interests to me. The lecturers in
the Podiatry program are fantastic. They show great interest in each
student’s studies and wellbeing and willing to help wherever they can.
The weekly on-campus clinic sessions give students practical experience
required to become a competent podiatrist. Podiatry requires ‘hands on’
techniques and skills that cannot be acquired from lectures or text
books. Online facilities are great as you can access lecture material
etc at anytime. Laboratories and clinics are also of high standard.
With a rise in obesity and diabetes, as well as an increasing aging
population, podiatric care is becoming more and more important as a
primary health care service.
