Australian Postgraduate Awards (APA)
University of South Australia Postgraduate Awards (USAPA)
Scholarships are offered to applicants demonstrating exceptional research
potential, who meet the entry requirements to the PhD program at UniSA.
Generally applicants will be studying on a full-time basis.
Key scholarship benefits:
- A living allowance valued at up to $27,222 (2010 APA stipend plus UniSA top-up scholarship)
- An exemption from tuition fees for up to 4 years full-time equivalent candidature, through the Research Training Scheme (RTS)
- Reimbursement of some relocation expenses for successful applicants relocating to Adelaide (amount is capped and subject to approval)
- An allowance to support production of your thesis at the time of submission.

Advanced Community Care Association Scholarship
The Advanced Community Care Association (ACCA) Scholarship is open to applicants in UniSA's annual scholarship application process. The successful applicant will be selected on the basis of merit and the alignment of their proposed research project with the objectives of ACCA, as follows:
- Coordinate community services to provide safe alternatives to unnecessary hospitalisation
- Improve the health outcomes of people through developing and implementing health delivery models whereby community organisations are capable of providing an extended range of care services in the home or community setting and
- To do all such things as are conducive to the attainment of the above objects.
The ACCA scholarship has been funded through an endowment to UniSA
following the dissolution of the Advanced Community Care Association in
2006.

Division of Health Sciences Post-Submission Publication Scholarships
Scheme overview:
The Division of Health Sciences recognises the importance of publishing work
that is generated during a HDR candidate's program of research.
Where students have submitted their thesis for examination, the Division
wishes to offer support for the purpose of publication, while the thesis is
under examination.
Funding is available to students for a maximum of 12 weeks, at a pro-rata
rate equivalent to the current Australian Postgraduate Award (APA) rate plus
the UniSA top-up ($27,651 per annum in 2011).
Eligibility:
- the thesis must have been submitted in under 3.5 years EFTSL (full time equivalent)
- applicants must be able to work on the publication(s) on a full-time basis during the scholarship period
- the applicant's supervisor must provide a statement of support for the application.

Applications will be accepted prior to submission of the thesis. However,
the application outcome will not be advised until the thesis and all
required paperwork associated with submission (completed nomination of
examiners and supervisor statement) are received in the Division Office.
School of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences PhD Scholarships for 2011
The School of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences is offering up to two (2) scholarships to applicants intending to commence a PhD in 2011. The scholarships are open to domestic and international applicants and offer the following key benefits:
- 3 year scholarships
- A living allowance valued at $27,222 per annum (rate indexed annually)
- A tuition fee waiver for both international and domestic applicants
- An annual allowance to support research project costs.
Suitable applicants will be considering research in areas related to the
research agenda of the School of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences. From cancer
treatment to nutrition to infectious disease, DNA and gene technology to
pharmaceuticals, our researchers' interests are many and varied, but what
all share is a spirit of cooperation and a desire to improve human health
through innovative, outcomes-based research.

Additionally, the following criteria will apply:
- Applicants must meet the APA/USAPA scholarship
assessment requirements:
- A bachelor degree with Honours, or an Honours degree, with a minimum H2A grade, or be able to demonstrate equivalence through a combination of published research and professional experience
- International applicants must be able to demonstrate English language proficiency to the required standard for admission to a higher degree at UniSA http://www.unisa.edu.au/resdegrees/howtoapply/engreq.asp
- All applicants will be subject to the UniSA admission, selection and scholarship assessment criteria and minimum quality assessment threshold
- All applicants wanting to be considered for the School of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences scholarship must be available to attend an interview following the application closing date*.
