Membership of the centre is available through full membership, associate membership and student membership. The various forms of membership acknowledge differing research and teaching contributions and cater for differing levels of responsibility. You will also find information about:
New members are invited to apply in writing. The application will be considered by full members of the centre. The following guidelines will be used to determine if the applicant should be a member and if so at what level.
The applicant must show evidence of and provide the following:
Applicants cannot opt for full membership with this centre if they are also full members of another centre or group. If this is the case they can become an associate member.
An adjunct of a school can apply for either full membership or associate membership of the centre.
To be considered for full membership the applicant must be a staff member of the University of South Australia and a proven researcher according to the criteria of the University Research Training Management Plan as follows:
Full members have voting rights and the responsibility of attending centre meetings, unless the member is on long service leave, study leave, recreation leave, sick leave or special leave. Full membership will be relinquished should the member, when not on leave and without reasonable excuse, fail to attend 50 per cent of meetings per annum.
Full members have access to a limited amount of the centre's funds for activities enhancing the performance of the centre. The amount will be determined yearly according to the availability of funds.
Recommendations regarding new membership and level of membership are to be made to a meeting of the full members, who will vote on them. A two-thirds majority vote is required to pass a recommendation.
Associate members may be:
Associate members can apply at a later date to be considered for full membership when they fulfil the criteria. However, associate members not employed by the University of South Australia are not eligible for full membership.
Postgraduate and Honours students being supervised by centre members are eligible for student membership.
Students can maintain their membership with the centre after they have graduated by becoming associate members.
