Research Centre for Gender Studies
The Research Centre for Gender Studies is a multi-disciplinary research concentration at the University of South Australia. It comprises researchers from the Divisions of Education, Arts and Social Sciences and the Division of Business. The research centre fosters excellence and creativity in research and postgraduate training on gender by bringing together the research interests and teaching expertise of university members across nine disciplines.
Goals
To foster research on gender in its many dimensions by placing gender as a key social category of enquiry by:
- building and strengthening postgraduate research culture
- strengthening the culture of collaboration and valuing of research within the membership
- building and supporting applications for grants by members
- building and supporting referred publications and books by members and postgraduate students
- developing interdisciplinary research projects across the centre and HRISS
- developing and supporting international research collaborations
- contributing to national and international policy on gender, work,
education, violence and other dimensions as pursued by members.
The Research and Education Unit on Gendered Violence is a research unit with membership links to the Research Centre for Gender Studies. Research in the unit attempts to highlight the significant impacts of gendered violence and identify strategies for service response and prevention.
