NCSEHE student research opportunities and scholarships
The National Centre for Student Equity in Higher Education (NCSEHE)
aims to support communities of researchers interested in student equity
and higher education, including research students working in this field.
Students interested in researching equity and social justice issues
across all stages of education are encouraged to apply. For further

The Centre has a limited number of opportunities available for people
who are interested and eligible to undertake Honours degrees as a
student of the University of South Australia and in association with the
NCSEHE. Possibilities also exist for PhD students enrolling at UniSA and
studying in the NCSEHE to receive top-up funding supplementary to
scholarships from other sources (such as an Australian Postgraduate
Award). Applications to undertake studies toward a PhD in the NCSEHE are
by negotiation.
Honours projects
Students are encouraged to develop projects that contribute to broader studies being conducted by other researchers and research students in the NCSEHE. Current research interests include students' aspirations for higher education; questions of definition and measurement in relation to equity groups; and better connecting university curriculum and pedagogy with the knowledge and learning capacities of students from under-represented groups.
Up to five scholarships are available. Honours scholarships are valued at $4000 for a period of one year only. A further $1000 is available to each scholarship holder to support attendance and presentation of their research at a national conference. Students who plan to conduct their Honours project within the NCSEHE are eligible to apply. The centre is particularly interested in receiving applications from students who intend to undertake a PhD within the centre after completing Honours. Applicants must submit an academic transcript and a CV, and may be required to attend an interview. Successful candidates will be determined by a panel comprising staff from the NCSEHE (including the Director) and a member of staff from the school in which the student is enrolled.
Applications for scholarships are welcome up to Friday January 29th 2010, although applicants need to be aware that offers may be made before this date. An early submission is advised. Late applications (after Friday 29th January 2010) will be received if places are still available.

Research vacation scholarships
The National Centre for Student Equity in Higher Education is also looking for students who are interested in applying for a 09/10 summer scholarship to research student equity and social inclusion.
