On Friday 22 May, the South Australian Branch of the Australian College of Educators (ACE) will celebrate fifty years since our Founders' Convention was held in Geelong Victoria, in May 1959. To mark these fifty years of service to the profession, this evening of celebration will include the 2009 AW Jones Oration, an event held every two years in Adelaide to commemorate the contribution to education and to the Australian College of Educators by a Founder Member of the College, Dr Alby Jones AO.
The 2009 AW Jones Oration will be delivered by Professor Barry McGaw AO, on the topic of "Building World Class Schools in Australia". Professor Denise Bradley AC, National President of ACE will also be at the event and help us celebrate the fiftieth birthday of the College. The formal segment of the evening will begin at 6pm and conclude within an hour, with drinks and nibbles to follow.
All College Fellows and Members, members of the teaching profession, and supporters of the work of the Bob Hawke Prime Ministerial Centre at the University of South Australia, are invited to join us for this celebration.
While the views presented by speakers within the Hawke Centre public
program are their own and are not necessarily those of either the University
of South Australia or The Hawke Centre, they are presented in the interest
of open debate and discussion in the community and reflect our themes of:
strengthening our democracy - valuing our cultural diversity - and building
our future.
