Participants (students and teachers) of the recent ECOtvc and Ecovision competition for the Solar Cities Congress, as well as previous entrants are all invited to an ECOtvc Event at 4.30pm to 6pm at the wonderful new Hawke Gallery, Bradley Forum, in Uni SA in North Terrace.
This event is an opportunity to find out what ECOtvc is and how to
participate. It will also announce the formation of Ecovision
International, a new non profit company based in SA to run environmental
film and media initiatives into the future. Participants of the
competition will be presented with a certificate and we will view some of
the films. There will be discussion with previous winners, filmmakers
and environmentalists on the process of building ideas and then creating the
film.
There will be an introduction to the new projects for Ecovision International for 2008-9.
This event will be of interest to schools, students, young people, families and supporters of the project - Refreshments will be provided at the end.
ECOtvc (ecological television commercial)
ECOtvc (ecological television commercial) is a competition to create a 30 second commercial that raises awareness about the sustainability of our planet… and inspire action. It aims to encourage young people to understand the challenges of our environmental future and to communicate their ideas. The young people submit ideas for a TV commercial, they are picked and a number are supported to produce the TV commercial.
These winning commercials are screened throughout Adelaide Film Festival and then on television and at cinemas.
The theme of the commercial is always an environmental theme or a theme that impacts on future civilizations.
The many achievements include recognition by Asia Pacific Forum for Environmental Development and United Nations, screening at cinemas, screening at Adelaide Film Festival and The Aotearoa Environmental Film Festival, broadcast on television locally and over 42 countries in Asia Pacific region, Nature Foundation Awards and acknowledgements by both Lord Mayor and Premier and international performer Jack Johnson has contacted us to support ECOtvc... and much more.
We also had filmmaker Mario Andreacchio on board to mentor 5 schools to participate in the International Solar Cities Schools Competition - with 2 winners!
In 2008 Ecovision International was established, a South Australian based umbrella non profit company to inspire creative thinking and build ways to share & communicate ideas globally through film and media on the challenges young people face for the future. Young people from all over the world will be invited to participate.
Ecovision International will operate on a global level and will run a number of programs focusing on environment and societies – these include:-
- ECOtvc Competition
- Projects for big events and organisations such as World Future
Council, Kidscall, G8 Conference, International Solar Cities
