Adelaide Park Lands Bill 2005: a public seminar

The Park Lands are a much admired feature of the City of Adelaide. The recently released draft Adelaide Park Lands Bill 2005 proposes a framework for their future management. The seminar is an opportunity to learn about the purposes and scope of the Bill.
Patricia Sumerling will give historical insights into how the Park Lands
have been used and administered. Russell Starr will provide an overview
of the proposed legislative framework and in particular will explain
what the Bill attempts to achieve in the context of both past and future
historical arrangements.
Members of the audience will have the opportunity to comment on the
Bill.

Biographies
Patricia Sumerling is a professional historian who has been actively
involved in researching aspects of the history and heritage of the City
of Adelaide. She has worked extensively in the heritage field. Recently
she received a grant from the Adelaide City Council to undertake a
social history of the Park Lands.
Russell Starr is on contract to the SA Department for Environment and
Heritage to work on, amongst other things, the development of
legislation governing the Adelaide Park Lands.
