Australia Post kicks in for Scholarship goals

Gavin WanganeenAustralia Post’s pledge to donate $10,000 over two years towards the tertiary education of Indigenous students has boosted funds for UniSA’s Gavin Wanganeen Indigenous Scholarship to more than $95,000, ensuring that the scholarship program will continue well into 2010.

Brownlow medallist, premiership player, five-times Power best-and-fairest winner and first Indigenous AFL life member, Gavin Wanganeen (pictured) is a role model and representative for Indigenous youth in Australia. As patron of the Scholarship, he is committed to supporting disadvantaged Indigenous people to realise their academic potential.

Senior Development Officer: Fundraising and Special Projects, Helen Black urges UniSA alumni, friends and Gavin Wanganeen supporters to rally behind Gavin in supporting the Scholarship, which is open to Indigenous students enrolled in any undergraduate degree program at UniSA.

"Your donation will help to ensure that talented Indigenous Australians are given the opportunity to achieve their academic goals," Black said.

The winner of the 2008 Gavin Wanganeen Scholarship will be announced at UniSA’s Scholarships and Grants Ceremony to be held on May 14 in the Allan Scott Auditorium, Hawke Building at City West campus.
