Building recognition

Katherine LangBachelor of Construction Management and Economics graduate, Katherine Lang won the Department of Trade and Economic Development Career Achievement Award at last month’s Channel 9 Young Achiever Awards.

The award acknowledges the determination, hard work and hunger for knowledge of young, self-motivated South Australians who make their own opportunities for success in business, by implementing new initiatives in the workplace, running their own businesses or thriving in management roles.

Lang, a project manager in the commercial construction industry, is a founder and President of the National Association of Women in Construction (SA Chapter) and a council member of the Australian Institute of Building (SA Chapter).

Although she graduated in 2003, Lang has been working in the construction industry for seven years.

She said she was delighted to win the award, which comes with a trophy and a $1000 cash prize from Home Start Finance.

"I’m absolutely thrilled and very honoured to accept the award," she said. "I was really surprised to have won, especially against such other worthy finalists."

Lang has recently commenced a new role as a project manager with Marshall and Brougham, after a period working for the Department of Environment and Heritage.
