GLOBAL STUDENT: Sarah Al Humaidi loves living in Adelaide and studying her MBA.Sarah Al Humaidi is a truly international student.

Living and growing up in Qatar, a modern nation in the Arabian Gulf, she moved to Oxford in the United Kingdom to study her undergraduate degree before returning to Qatar to work in marketing. Now, at the age of 23, Al Humaidi is studying an MBA at UniSA.

Out of all the universities to apply to study abroad, Sarah said she chose UniSA because the program matched her professional interests and goals. She said the practical emphasis of the course, applying academic learning back to the workplace, was also a major factor.

“My studies are giving me a solid foundation to continue with my career, from marketing to finance to human resources,” she said.

“I am also very interested in the Australian Business Experience Program as it provides an excellent opportunity to get experience in the Australian corporate world.”

Al Humaidi said the MBA is already broadening her horizons and she is eager to put into practice everything she learns while in Australia.

“I am particularly committed to developing my academic understanding and knowledge of systems and strategic thinking so I can contribute and take an active role in the development of the Qatar Foundation and my home country,” she said.

Al Humaidi worked in the Qatar Foundation for a couple of years before applying to study in Australia. The Qatar Foundation is a private non-profit organisation operating a network of centres devoted to education, research and community welfare.

“It is guided by the principle that a nation’s greatest resource is the potential of its people,” she said.

“Through partnerships with internationally renowned universities, its flagship project Education City represents a model higher education community by bringing universities and research institutions together on one site, offering a diverse range of high quality programs from early childhood education to postgraduate studies.

“The main objective is to prepare students to take leadership roles in an increasingly global society.”

Al Humaidi said she hoped her studies and experience here will help her to become one of those leaders.
